S.E.S
|
S.E.S is probably one of, if not THE, most popular groups in Korea. A couple of
years ago, they broke into the Japanese music scene, and although they weren't
HUGELY successful, like they were in Korea, they did experience some decent
success. They've released a couple of albums in Japan and at least 5 in Korea.
Their music is very dance and R&B oriented and is usually very upbeat and
more faster paced.

Sharan Q
|
Although they just recently broke up, Sharan Q had been around for over a decade.
Their music was a combination of rock, pop, with a little funk thrown in for good
measure. Known as much for thier style and clothing as their music, Sharan Q's
members often performed in some outrageous looking outfits.
Thier song Iiwake (Excuse) was the theme song for the dorama titled "Age 35". It
was probably the first JPop song that I ever heard, and I really liked it a lot.
That was how I was introduced to the band as well as the world of JPop. So, this
group has a bit of nostalgia related to them for me

Shiina Ringo
|
Describing Shiina Ringo (aka Sheena) and her style is a bit difficult. Take a few parts visual rock,
a dash of good ole rock-n-roll, sprinkled with alternative, a little bit of sexiness,
and a heaping teaspoon of wierd and you have Shiina Ringo.
Her concerts, videos and performances,
are usually as much visual as they are audio. There is one thing you CAN'T deny
though, she knows how to perform. From the first time I heard her, I just had to
get more. If I had to pick, Shiina Ringo is my favorite artist at the moment.

SMAP
|
SMAP is probably one of the biggest male singing groups in Japan. They have been
for several years and their popularity doesn't seem to be waning any at all.
The group consists of five members, all of which are known as much for their
acting and comedic talents as their singing and dancing.
While not the best at singing or dancing, their shows are energetic,
enteratining performances consisting of songs of the mainstream pop variety.
Their weekly television show is a very popular show consisting of various
comedic skits.
