One of the reasons that I got into JPop, MAX is a group that consists of four members (Mina,
Reina, Lina, and Nana). Originally a part of the group the SuperMonkeys (also starring
Amuro Namie), MAX has developed itself into a very popular group with a very large fanbase.
Known for their skillful dancing and upbeat tunes, MAX's songs range from pure Eurobeat (on their
first album), to more R&B and Hip Hop/dance (2nd Album), to a more pop sounding sound (3rd album
and beyond). Their concerts are usually very energetic and fun to watch, and MAX tends to
appear on a lot of the live music show's in Japan, ranging from Yoru mo Hippare to Music Station.

Misia
|
One of my friends summed up Misia best, I think. He said "She's the blackest
little Japanese girl I've ever heard", and I can't think of a better way to
describe Misia.
Her songs are very heavily R&B and soul influenced, and her
voice is very full and powerful. If you like R&B music and JPop, Misia might just
be right down your alley.

Morning Musume

Morning Musume is a group of 7..I mean 9, no wait 6, uh, 8... no 11 girls
who is currently one of the most popular groups in Japan right now. Although
their lineup has changed since their inception (members leaving and new members
being added), their popularity continues to increase.
With songs cosisting of upbeat pop and mainstream tunes, Morning Musume has
become one of the top sellers in Japan. Their success has even allowed several
"splinter" groups (consisting of 3 or 4 of the members) to be formed and have
similar success. These range from Tanpopo & Pucchi Moni to Mini-Moni and the
Color Groups. (i.e. Aoi Iro 7, Kiiro 5)
