Church Structure:

The Church of Myrak Paladoth devotes itself to cause of justice. The church recognizes the secular authority, but seeks to insure that secular law is just. As a result, the Church of Myrak Paladoth has long been closely involved with secular government and the politics of the country. However, the Church has always attempted to be impartial and objective in its actions.

Individual followers of Myrak Paladoth serve the god for different reasons. Some are consumed with a passionate love of Justice. Others seek the philosophical answers to the ultimate nature of Truth. Still others see the darkness of evil and madness from those forces that would do harm to all life, and view Myrak Paladoth as the surest and strongest foe of such forces.

Special Abilities/Granted Powers

  1. Rebuke Darkness

A priest of Myrak Paladoth may invoke the light of Myrak Paladoth to Rebuke Darkness. Rebuke Darkness has a Faith Difficulty check of 13, and a Grace cost of 1. The priest may directly Rebuke the servants of Darkness, including the Undead and such being as are summoned from beyond the material world. A successful Rebuke forces a Shock Check in the target creatures. The amount of the success of the Faith check is multiplied by the Rank of the Priest to determine the amount of shock produced. A KO result actually destroys Undead, and forces summoned creatures back to the place of their origin.

If used against supernatural darkness of any kind, then the rebuke may actually dispel or disperse the darkness. The amount of success in this case must exceed the skill and power of the darkness. For example, if used to Rebuke a prayer of Darkness from a priest of Tenebrae, then the Difficulty would be the Faith plus the Rank of the priest invoking this prayer.

  2. The Blessing of Truth

Priests of Myrak Paladoth serve the cause of Truth, and as a result, are most difficult to deceive or sway by supernatural means. They receive an automatic bonus of +1 to all Resistance Rolls against any supernatural mental influence for every three ranks the priest has earned. This includes such affects as Fear, Charm, or Illusions which affect the mind directly, but not illusions which affect the senses.

  3. Dedication to Truth

A priest of Myrak Paladoth must be truly dedicated to the cause of Truth. A priest of Myrak Paladoth must strive to avoid telling falsehoods. Knowingly telling a lie costs the Priest at least one point of Grace, and may cost more. Telling a lie under oath is a venial sin, and must be atoned for. In the meanwhile, it will serve as a penalty to all Faith checks, as well as a penalty to the priests Grace pool.

  4. Respect Justice

A priest of Myrak Paladoth recognizes that no mortal agency can be perfect in the pursuit of justice. As the sword is recognized as the weapon of justice, no Priest of Myrak Paladoth will use a sword as a weapon, nor any edged weapon.
