II.G. Resistance Rolls
There will be occasions in which a character will need to resist the effects of something. This could be a simple as a character getting out of the way of a trap, or surviving the poison in a snake bite. Sometimes a character may need to resist a magic effect or a demonic influence. In all cases, the process for making a resistance roll is the same.
Each incidence which may require a resistance roll is assigned a Difficult Rank by the Game Master. Like a skill check, the Base Odds are calculated by adding the Difficulty Rank to 7, and then applying any circumstantial modifiers to the check. Thus a moderately weak poison might be assigned a Difficulty Rank of 4, making the Base Odds 7 + 4 = 11.
To make a successful Resistance Roll, a character must make a 3d6 roll, and add any appropriate Attribute or circumstance modifiers. Thus to resist a mild poison with a Base Odds of 11, a character when need to have an 11 or higher on the 3d6 roll when added to his or her HEA Modifier.
Only one Attribute Modifier may be used for any given Resistance Roll.
A character may add his or her level to the Resistance Roll.
