Welcome to my Tomite page. Tomite is a seishi of Genbu, who protected Okuda Takiko, Genbu No Miko, 200 years earlier than Miaka's entrance to the book. Not much is known about Tomite as well as Hikitsu, due to their small part in the show. With the creation of the Genbu Kaiden manga, I will add info on Tomite as his character develops (and translations are available).

As said above, Tomite was an active seishi for Genbu no Miko 200 years ago. When Genbu no Miko called Genbu and went back to her world, she left a shinzaho (an item worn during the summoning that became a relic). Tomite, along with Hikitsu, was chosen...or volunteered, we don't know for sure...for the duty of protecting it until another worthy Miko came along to claim it. By the time that Miaka et al appeared before him, 200 years had passed and his physical body had since been reclaimed by the earth, leaving Tomite as an insubstantial spirit...yet still retaining his seishi powers. A deadly combination. Of few words, Tomite seems to be the more duty-minded of the two Genbu seishi.

Genbu Kaiden Manga info
Working as a bounty hunter, Chamka mistakes Takiko for Limdo's lover and captures her as bait when Limdo manages to escape. Chamka denies his seishi destiny, seeing the prophecy as a bad omen; the seishi and miko as harbingers of dark times for his country. His mother thinks otherwise, feeling that the seishi would be heroes helping the country out of their darkest hour. With Takiko embracing her destiny, Chamka signs on as Tomite, with his mother's blessing. Sidenote, Chamka shows an early interest in Takiko once he discovers that she is not Limdo's lover.
