Quiz: Yui and her seven seishi

Why did Yui grow her hair out in high school?

It was stated by Watase Yuu that Yui had cut her hair in junior high because she had been getting too much attention from the boys. But when she entered high school, she grew it out again. I have a few theories as to why:

1. She had already been planning on growing her hair out after the high school entrance exams and she simply carried out her plan.

2. From being sucked into the Shi Jin Ten Chi Sho, and undergoing all kinds of experiences as Seiryuu no Miko, Yui matured a lot inside. Her longer hairstyle was just manifesting this inner growth.

3. Because she and Tetsuya started dating.

4. Even after she cut her hair short, the boys still paid attention to her. Since she was doomed to be popular anyway, she might as well keep her hair the way she liked it; long.

5. No real reason. She simply grew her hair out.

I came up with all these possibilities (except 5, which really has no thinking behind it). Was your theory in this list?

When exactly did the Seiryuu Seishi come into "existence"?

[*This is actually an interesting theory I had never considered. Especially since Yui became Genbu no Miko in the first OVA. This might also lead us to believe that there were countless Suzaku, Seiryuu, Genbu, and Byakko no Mikos before Miaka and Yui O_o. Interesting theory. -TnM]

When asked that question, most of us may think that they were "born" (book) years before Miaka and Yui found the book. (In Nakago’s case, 25 years, in Soi’s case, 19 years, etc. Miboshi we’re not sure about, though…)

But what if Yui and Miaka had NOT entered the book simultaneously? Would the Seiryuu Seishi still have come into being when they did? Or was it the entrance of their Miko that brought them to life?

When Miaka and Yui first opened the Shi Jin Ten Chi Sho at the library and read the explanation at the beginning of it (I suppose we could call it a "preface"), it was written that this was a story about a girl from another world who summoned "SUZAKU" and made wishes come true.

We can conclude from this that every time the book is opened by a virgin, it sucks her into the book to become the current available Miko. Since Genbu’s and Byakko’s Mikos had already finished their stories, it was time for "Suzaku".

So did the book realize (though I suppose "realize" is a strange word to associate with a BOOK) that the stories for both Suzaku AND Seiryuu no Miko were being written at the same time?

But if the book had known this was going to happen ahead of time, it would have written about Seiryuu no Miko in the "preface", too.

So from this can we not conclude that the book was not prepared for the event in which two Mikos would occupy it at the same time? Wasn’t the book planning on writing the story of Seiryuu no Miko once Suzaku no Miko had already finished her story?

If this is true, than the Seiryuu Seishi were supposed to be born later.

However, both the Seiryuu and Suzaku Seishi existed in the book during the same time period.

If, perhaps, three or so years after Suzaku no Miko had finished her story, the next virgin came along to become Seiryuu no Miko, it’s understandable that the Seiryuu Seishi might be alive while the Suzaku Seishi were.

But since Seiryuu no Miko (Yui) came ahead of schedule, perhaps the Seiryuu Seishi were created on the spot?

Before Yui entered the book, perhaps Nakago, Soi, and the other Seiryuu Seishi did not even exist. This means that not only the Seishi themselves, but their pasts and everything they had experienced in their lives had been created the instant Yui entered the book. This is a little unfair to the Seiryuu Seishi, but it is possible.

So when DID the Seiryuu Seishi come into existence? Were they born naturally inside the book? Or were they created on the spot? What are your feelings on this?

What if Nakago had not worshipped Tenkou?

We know that Nakago and the Seiryuu Seishi did not receive help from Taiitsu-kun because Nakago worshipped Tenkou, Taiitsu-kun’s opposite.

But would Taiitsu-kun have assisted the Seiryuu Seishi if Nakago had not worshipped Tenkou?

However, the Seiryuu Seishi who did not even worship Tenkou, saw Mt. Taikyoku as mere rocky mountains.

We can all agree that Miboshi was "evil". He has survived through the ages by sorcery and feeding off of other’s bodies like a parasite.

By the same token, we can also conclude that Tomo is "evil". He caused Amiboshi and Tamahome much pain (to his own joy) [*er, actually, he’s just sadistic ^_- -TnM] and attempted to take Miaka’s virginity away so she could not call on Suzaku.

And Ashitare was not only "evil", but "ferocious".

And even though he was under Nakago’s influence, Suboshi’s murdering Tamahome’s entire family is not an act Taiitsu-kun could forgive.

So it wasn’t Nakago’s worship of Tenkou that prevented aid from Taiitsu-kun. Nakago simply worshipped Tenkou as the last survivor of the Hin race. Or perhaps Nakago worshipped Tenkou simply because he knew he would not be able to receive Taiitsu-kun’s help as a Seiryuu Seishi...

Was Nakago really a genius in strategy?

Watase Yuu stated that Nakago was a man who had all his plans mapped out perfectly, and carried them out flawlessly and calmly.

That is probably the image most of you readers have of him, too. Most of us think of Nakago as the perfect puppet master who used all his Seishi (and Miko) as pawns to carry out his flawless plans.

But were his plans ALWAYS flawless? Didn’t he ever make mistakes?

Actually, I believe that if Nakago had been wiser, he would have been able to get Yui to summon Seiryuu much earlier. It was BECAUSE Nakago planned too much ahead and schemed too much that Seiryuu was summoned much later than He should have been.

For those who don’t see my reasoning:

1. Nakago’s first mistake:
Sending out Amiboshi as a fake Chiriko to make the Suzaku Seishi fail to summon Suzaku. When he sent Amiboshi out to do this, didn’t he already have all his Seishi assembled?

[*I am going to stop translation of this theory now, because I can disprove it with solid evidence from Watase Yuu HERSELF. According to Ryuusei Den, which I have translated ^_-, Amiboshi and Suboshi joined Nakago when the Suzaku Seishi were all assembled, except Chiriko. Nakago told them distinctly that so far, they had Soi, Ashitare, Amiboshi, Suboshi, and himself. He said the other two Seishi [being Tomo and Miboshi] should arrive later. So sending in Amiboshi as a decoy really was necessary. Although Tomo HAD met Nakago earlier [as told in Seiran Den], Tomo left for a while with the intent on returning after the Miko came. As far as we know, Nakago and the other Seiryuu Seishi had not even MET Miboshi at this point. Well, I don’t wanna write my own book here, so I’ll shut up ^_- -TnM]

2. Nakago’s second mistake:
If the Seiryuu Seishi were NOT all assembled [*which they were not -TnM], and Nakago had to prevent the Suzaku Seishi from summoning Suzaku, why send Amiboshi in as a decoy? Was there not a better way?

For a short time, Nakago got his hands on the Suzaku scroll of the Shi Jin Ten Chi Sho. Couldn’t he have just burned or disposed of the scroll to prevent the Suzaku Seishi from finding any others?

Perhaps just with Okuda Einosuke’s Japanese translation of the Shi Jin Ten Chi Sho, the Suzaku scroll of the Shi Jin Ten Chi Sho might have been fireproof (aside from being in the Suzaku mausoleum). But even so, it was a big mistake on Nakago’s part to give the scroll back to Tamahome so easily.

Or perhaps Nakago did not want to prevent the Suzaku Seishi from undergoing their summoning ceremony after he went through all the trouble to send Amiboshi in as a spy.

[*I will stop this translation here, too, as I have evidence that disproves THIS theory. argh, didn’t this author read the FY novels?? ^_^;; {the novels weren't out yet - TomoNM} According to Ryuusei Den, when Amiboshi and Suboshi entered Kutou palace and met Nakago for the FIRST TIME, Nakago informed them that the Suzaku Seishi numbered *6*. Nakago had the scroll back when the Suzaku Seishi only numbered *4*, but the author has a point about Nakago letting the Suzaku Seishi have the scroll back. that WAS kind of stupid. -TnM] 3. Nakago’s third mistake:
It would have been much easier to summon Seiryuu if the Shinzaho was not needed. So WHY did Nakago personally kill Ashitare and make it so they NEEDED the Shinzaho? [*We all wondered that! ^_^;; -TnM] Though it was assumed Amiboshi was dead, it was not certain. Nakago could have searched, found Amiboshi was alive, and through some hypnosis (or whatever it took to get Amiboshi to cooperate), all of the Seiryuu Seishi could have been alive to summon Seiryuu.

There is the possibility that when Ashitare lost the human part of himself that he was no longer able to participate in the summoning ceremony, but even so, it was NAKAGO who allowed Ashitare to wind up like that.

I consider the above to be mistakes of Nakago’s, but perhaps even the mistakes were part of his master plan?

Since when Seiryuu is called on, only three wishes can be asked of him, it would have been difficult for Nakago to use these wishes selfishly if there were six other Seishi to deal with. So perhaps Nakago was pleased when the Suzaku Seishi killed off his fellow Seiryuu Seishi.

Or perhaps killing off his own comrades was his own way of covering up his blunders (to himself and to others). If this is so, then we really want to say "Nakago, Shikkari Shinasai!" Hahaha.

[*"Nakago, Shikkari Shinasai!" is the name of the parody Watase wrote about Nakago where he is actually shy and meek, and blundering all the time ^-^ -TnM] We can argue over whether or not Nakago made mistakes, but in the end, we have to admit he DID manage to get Seiryuu summoned. His very last mistake, then, was Yui not granting his wish. I’m sure that even Nakago was willing to admit failure in that case. Or maybe not? Maybe Nakago thought "It was for the best," as he headed into the afterlife...

Did Nakago foresee Chiriko’s late arrival?

Amiboshi successfully disguised himself as Chiriko and spied on the Suzaku Seishi. Watase-sensei mentioned that she had originally planned on Nakago having captured Chiriko and sending Amiboshi in as a spy, but she changed her mind.

The confusion and hard feelings over the Chiriko they knew not being the real Chiriko was bad enough for the Suzaku Seishi, but what was even worse was the fact that they had burned the Suzaku Scroll and were no longer able to summon Suzaku the conventional way.

But the fact is that the Seiryuu Seishi, or moreso, Nakago, had not captured the real Chiriko. So why did he try to send a fake Chiriko in? What if the real Chiriko showed up before the fake Chiriko could do any harm? Or did Nakago actually foresee Chiriko’s late arrival?

This is a nice theory, but the truth of the matter is simply that when Watase-sensei had Nakago send Amiboshi in as a spy, she had intended to reveal later that Nakago had captured the real Chiriko, but her plans were changed, so it was left unresolved.

So even if Nakago had not foreseen Chiriko’s late arrival, why did he send Amiboshi in? There are a few possibilities:

1. Even if the real Chiriko were to appear, Nakago figured Amiboshi could handle his way out somehow.
The ideal outcome would be for Amiboshi to spoil the summoning ceremony, and kill Suzaku no Miko and all her Seishi, but even if this were not all carried out, Nakago was certain sending a spy in would at least damage the Suzaku Seishi somehow. And even if the real Chiriko were to show up before Amiboshi was able to foil the ceremony, Amiboshi could find some way to retreat. And judging by the personalities of the Suzaku Seishi, they were unlikely to kill Amiboshi after they had grown so "close" to him.

So everything worked out according to plan as far as Nakago was concerned. Perhaps the only thing Nakago did not foresee was Amiboshi’s mixed feelings causing him to take his own life.

2. Nakago actually WANTED Amiboshi to die.
When the time comes for Seiryuu to be summoned, only three wishes can be granted. Since it was in Nakago’s best interests for his fellow Seishi to be dead (and out of the competition for wishes), the Suzaku Seishi killing them off could not have made him more happy. So when Nakago sent Amiboshi in to perform such a dangerous job, he did not worry about the Suzaku Seishi discovering who Amiboshi really was because then they might kill Amiboshi!

3. Nakago knew that it was very unlikely for the real Chiriko to show up.
While the Seiryuu Seishi all assembled when they sensed their Miko’s ki, the Suzaku Seishi had to be discovered by Suzaku no Miko. Nakago was well aware of this. So if a fake Chiriko were sent in, Miaka would no longer have a reason to search for "Chiriko". And since it is very unlikely that the real Chiriko would show up on his own, Nakago was not worried about Amiboshi.

Pity for Nakago that Chiriko DID show up on his own; and just when Amiboshi was about to kill Suzaku no Miko and her Seishi.

4. Nakago actually tried to capture the real Chiriko, but failed.
Actually, Nakago DID try to capture Chiriko! He had the ability to not only sense the ki of his fellow Seiryuu Seishi, but that of the opposing Suzaku Seishi as well! So at the same time Nakago sent Amiboshi out as a fake Chiriko, he actually planned on capturing the real Chiriko.

However, since at that time Chiriko’s character did not appear, even Nakago could not sense his presence. Just the same as when Nakago could not sense Amiboshi’s ki after he fell into the river, until Amiboshi tried to give his ki to Miaka.

These are the explanations I came up with; what do you think? All of them are believable within the confines of the story (except for number 2, which I’m not too sure about). Well, give it a good thought…

Is it possible that Amiboshi was teasing Miaka?

Miaka fell off a cliff and was rescued by Amiboshi. But since Miaka was under the impression that Amiboshi had drowned in the river, she thought that he was Suboshi and thought she was going to be killed.

That's not hard to believe seeing as how Amiboshi also said "At last, I have found you. Time for you to die" to the weasel behind her.

I always believed that Amiboshi did not intend on startling Miaka, but is that really true?

But I find it very hard to believe that Amiboshi would scare Miaka like that on purpose! He had not really lost his memory after he was found by the couple, so he recognized Miaka at first sight. And Amiboshi probably also reasoned that Miaka thought he had died, and that she had most likely met his twin, Suboshi; thus mistaking Amiboshi for Suboshi.

And since he knew all of that, it makes you wonder if what he said was really directed towards the weasel. Didn't Amiboshi realize that Miaka might think what he was telling the weasel was directed towards her?

The only point that supports Amiboshi's case is that if Miaka had moved, the weasel might have killed her. So Amiboshi said those things to petrify Miaka so he could kill the weasel and save her.

Or perhaps he had no deep reason for it and was simply teasing Miaka a little...

Another scene similar to Suboshi's death?

Both in the manga and the anime, Suboshi was killed by his own weapon (Ryuuseisui) striking him through the heart. In the manga, he was fighting Tamahome, and though Tamahome's Seishi powers had been sealed off, he jumped over Suboshi, causing the Ryuuseisui to go through Suboshi's heart. But in the anime, Suboshi didn't fall for that trick. He was going to escape Tamahome's trap, but was stopped by Tamahome's little brothers and sisters (their spirits) holding his legs down.

Even though Suboshi was ordered by Nakago, murdering Tamahme's family is an unforgivable sin. The very children Suboshi murdered coming back and "killing" him gives the viewers a sense of retribution and makes us feel like it's all even now.

But when I saw this scene, I couldn't help but remember the same scene from an old anime. Anyone older than me (31), should remember this scene [*Well, that rules me out, and probably most people reading this ^_^; -TnM] But I suppose most of you reading this book will have no idea what I'm talking about. [*Bingo ^-^; -TnM] Well, I'm not surprised. The manga/anime of which I speak is "Kyoujin no Hoshi" ["Planet of the Giants", I think. I'm not sure if this was ever translated into English or what its English title was -TnM]. It was published in Shounen Magazine from 1966-1971 and was an anime in 1968.

I guess everyone in their teens has heard of this show? Or maybe not. Ah, but you may have seen the characters in Nihon Sekiyu commercials. Come to think of it, the commercials themselves are the most entertaining...

{TomoNM here. We decided to cut this question short due to the age and obscurity of the anime/manga in question. Although, I did ask Tetris no Miko to translate the name and situation in question so that Suboshi fans can look it up further, if they wish. The character the author mentioned is Hoshi Hiyuuma. He learns of the poor conditions Samon Housaku has to live in. Samon and his younger brothers and sisters survived through the years even though their parents had died. Samon and Hoshi end up competing against each other, and Hoshi has a bad dream that Samon's younger siblings hold his arms and legs down and make him lose the match.}

Who was Amiboshi really playing the requiem for?

When Suboshi force-fed Amiboshi the forgetting-potion, Amiboshi lost all memory of being a Seiryuu Seishi and of his twin brother. But when Suboshi died, Amiboshi felt extreme shock like half of his body had gone, and then as if half of his body had returned.

Naturally, Amiboshi had no idea that this was because his younger twin had just died.

After this, Amiboshi plays a requiem on his flute. On the surface, this was for all who had died in the war between Kutou and Konan, but...?

I have to think that Amiboshi was subconsciously playing the requiem for Suboshi. Perhaps to help guide his soul to the afterlife. Or maybe it was played as a greeting to Suboshi, whose spirit returned to visit Amiboshi.

Byakko no Miko and Tatara were able to reunite after death even though they lived in different worlds. So I'm certain Amiboshi and Suboshi were also reunited after death.

What was Ashitare doing in the circus?

It is said that Ashitare had been sold to a circus on the outskirts of Kutou. He was probably advertised as a half-man, half-wolf and was a popular member of the freak-show. But I wonder if the circus owners were aware that Ashitare actually had the blood of a wolf in him?

Nakago was well aware that if the human part of Ashitare were killed, he would become full-wolf. But where did he learn this? If from the circus owner, then the circus was well aware of what Ashitare was.

But what I find even more difficult to believe is how Ashitare ended up in the circus in the first place. When he was fighting NURIKO, of all people, Nuriko was impressed at Ashitare's incredible strength. If Ashitare's strength surpassed Nuriko's, then how in the world were the circus-people able to capture him??

Did they put sleeping potion (or even the forgetful-potion?) in his food and then put him in a cage? That is highly possible for your average human to accomplish. Or was there perhaps a man even stronger than Nuriko who captured Ashitare? Although that is a very unlikely suggestion. But if there were such a strong man in Kutou, the Suzaku Seishi sure are lucky they didn't have to deal with HIM.

[*My theory: Nakago found Ashitare, sedated him with magic, and then gave him to the circus for safe keeping ^_- -TnM]

And to change the subject a bit, I wonder if Ashitare was a popular attraction at the circus. After all, he only looks like a scary, deranged old man with fangs. I'm sure kids would cry at the sight of him.

And perhaps it was Ashitare's lack of popularity that allowed Nakago to buy him for so little money?

People treated Ashitare cruelly?

The Fushigi Yuugi comics (by Flower Comics) were published in such a way that the backs of the first 7 covers each featured a Suzaku Seishi. Then, starting from volume 8, a Seiryuu Seishi was featured, but since the first part of Fushigi Yuugi ended at volume 13, this resulted in one of the Seiryuu Seishi being left out! And the one who was left out...was none other than Ashitare! The only one out of 14 Seishi not featured. His fellow Seishi Nakago and Amiboshi even appeared on the FRONT covers, too!!

But I suppose if you had to chose to leave one of the Seishi out, it would have to be Ashitare. (He is a beast, after all...)

So not only was it cruel of Nakago to kill Ashitare after he retrieved the Shinzaho, but it was cruel of Watase to leave him out of the back covers.

The makeup, the getup, and accent...Who in the world IS Tomo?!

With a strange costume resembling Chinese opera, strange makeup, and an unusually noble speech pattern, Tomo sure was a strange character.

[*I'll insert something explaining this "speech pattern" the author has mentioned. It's apparent in the manga/anime and VERY apparent in Seiran Den, the Nakago novel. (But it might have been lost in the translations). Tomo speaks politely, and in older Japanese. If he were speaking English, he would sound something along the lines of Shakespeare ^_^; He even THINKS to himself in this speech-pattern, though he is not of noble blood (as far as we know). That is what's so strange about his speech pattern... But what's even more strange about it (as the author explains below, but I'll just put in a nutshell what she said) is that through its over politeness, his tone has sarcastic and condescending undertones. -TnM]

So why did he dress that way? And why did he have such as peculiar form of speech?

I have a few theories pertaining to these questions.

*Why Tomo dressed the way he did:

1. Simply because he thought it looked nice (beautiful)
Tamahome made fun of Tomo in asking him if he wasn't ashamed of his gaudy appearance. Tomo responded patronizingly that Tamahome was a poor boy that did not understand his sense of aesthetics. He then proceeded to explain the meanings behind his makeup.

From this, we can determine that Tomo took pride in his appearance and thought he was beautiful. Tomo seemed to be under the impression that anyone who made fun of the way he chose to dress was pathetic not to understand the artistic significance.

2. It was a sort of formal uniform to him.
Since Tomo was a proud dancer and stage performer, can we not conclude that he felt the glamour to be a sort of uniform for himself?

3. It was for the same reason Yui cut her hair short.
Without his makeup, Tomo was very handsome. He knew that if he were handsome, he would be surrounded by gawking females, which would be nothing but discouraging to a man (homosexual) such as he.

4. Because performing magic and fighting is like a dance.
To Tomo, creating illusions through his Shin was a sort of elaborate performance. The way Tomo dressed was for performance (fighting) use only and under ordinary circumstances, he would have not dressed that way.

*Why Tomo spoke the way he did:

1. Because of the lack of love in his life.
Tomo was an abandoned child and he had to live through life sucking up to others in order to survive. That is simply why he used his best manners when speaking to anyone, while underneath, was a sneer of disgust.

2. Because it put those he interacted with into the palm of his hand.
I'm sure those who were spoken to by Tomo felt he was patronizing them, but this might have been part of Tomo's plan all along. He probably found amusement in watching how uncomfortable his peers were when spoken to like that.

Plus it also appears as though Tomo had a thing for Nakago. But no matter how he spoke to Nakago, he responded in the same, cool, confident way in which he responded to everyone. Perhaps this was Tomo's one frusteration.

3. In order to keep his true emotions hidden.
A polite speech pattern can often sound bland and non-human to others. If he were to use such a speech pattern even when he's angry or glad, no one could tell for certain what Tomo was truly feeling.

So what did you think of those theories? I'm sure if Tomo were to read these, he would say "I see you do not understand, my friend. I find your misconceptions amusing".

The Meanings Behind the Seiryuu Seishi Symbols

I did the same thing earlier when I analyzed the meanings behind the symbols of the Suzaku Seishi, and now it's Seiryuu's turn.

Nakago: Intuition, thought, sense, foresight, reason, meaning, elegance, heart (the organ), heart (spiritual), center, something located in the nucleus, vital part, origin.

Amiboshi: To apprehend, to heighten, strive, come to an end, to strike, to obscure, ridge of roof.

Suboshi: Horns on an animal, something that strikes to the surface, to fight, conflict, a corner, an angle, a crack, a place where things are hidden, horn carving, huntsman's horn, unicorn, someone with his hair parted in the middle giving the appearance of a horn, cup, actor, Chinese money.

Soi: Small room in a temple, main room, bedroom, house, home, device which strings a bow, a place where flowers and plants grow, a bag.

Ashitare: an animal's tail, behind, to follow, at the foot of the mountains, the end, the bottom, to sneak after, to hunt down, used to count fish.

Tomo: Beginning-end, root of a tree, to arrive, to dig down, general(ly), mansion, to lie down, small sense of existence, low, name of a Tibetan tribe.

Miboshi: A tool that fans smell out of dead things, dustpan, sit cross-legged, the name of a country (in the Eastern mountains)

Since Nakago really was sort of the nucleus of the Seiryuu Seishi, the meaning behind his symbol suits him well. The symbol suits Nakago to a T! Even the meaning "vital part" applies.

Watase-sensei had already mentioned "to obscure" and "to apprehend" as meanings behind Amiboshi's name, and he certainly did apprehend others with his flute-magic and he did obscure his true symbol from the Suzaku Seishi.

Suboshi's meanings were a little off, however, as he doesn't part his hair in the middle, nor does he have anything to do with a horn.

With Soi, the meaning "bedroom" comes to mind. Perhaps this has some connection to the fact she used to be a prostitute?

Ashitare's symbol requires little thought, since Ashitare is an animal with a tail, but even the part of him that "followed" orders and "followed" the Suzaku Seishi fits him! Ashitare also followed and hunted down Nuriko!

And to Tomo, who was abandoned as a baby and whose life is shrouded in mystery and suffering, "small sense of existence" suits him.

But what matches the most of all (even Watase-sensei mentioned this) is Miboshi's "sit cross-legged"! If Watase was aware of this meaning before she developed Miboshi's character, it's not so impressive, but imagine her developing Miboshi's character, and THEN realizing his character had that meaning! She must have been just as surprised as we were.

Yui and Seiryuu Seishi Quiz

1. When Suboshi heard Yui practicing her English, he thought it was some sort of chant. Then Yui explained to him that she was reciting words from "English", one of the five subjects she is supposed to learn in school. When Suboshi heard the foreign words "English" and "five subjects", what Chinese characters came up in his mind? [*As if any English-speaking fan of the anime/manga knows the answer to this ^^;; -TnM]

2. What are the meanings behind the blue and black paint on Tomo's face?

3. When Tomo had Miaka in his illusion, one of his clones, Aono Tomo, gave Miaka a special pencil which he said was "lucky". Where did Tomo say his pencil had come from?

4. In order to escape Tomo's illusion, Amiboshi bit his own finger. Which finger on which hand did he bite?

5. What is the name of the drug Miboshi created from Kodoku?

6. When Subaru was fighting Soi, in what ways did Soi say she was superior to Subaru?

7. Nakago belonged to the Hin race, a race with blue eyes and blonde hair who originated in Kutou. How many years ago (from when Yui summoned Seiryuu) was his race obliterated?

8. After Yui summoned Seiryuu, she returned to her own world. When she went into her room, what kind of bedspread did she have?

9. Tokaki always wanted to know Soi's measurements. What are they?

10. How old was Nakago when he was brought before Kutou's emperor for the first time?

Seiryuu Quiz Answers

1. [*This answer is sort of lost in English. The meanings behind the kanji compounds Suboshi created in his mind were something along the lines of "after business" and "five songs". -TnM]

2. Blue = strategy. Black = loyalty

Perhaps the other Seiryuu Seishi thought about Tomo's appearance and makeup the same way Tamahome did? Especially Soi.

3. "It's the pencil my Aniki [big brother] used to pass his entrance exam".

Am I the only one who laughed at this line from its homosexual connotations? [*"Aniki" not only means "big brother", but sort of "boss" or even "pimp". It can also have homosexual connotations -TnM] But, naturally, the ideal "Aniki" for Tomo would be Nakago

4. The middle and ring fingers on his left hand.

Amiboshi suffered so much to save Miaka's virginity! No wonder Tamahome accepted him as a friend.

5. "Kugutsu"

6. Her skin's shine and smoothness.

Subaru may have thought her figure was better than Soi's when she made herself young. But in my opinion (as a 31 year old male) [*O_o;;;; The whole time, I thought the author of this book was a GIRL!! ^^;;;;;;;;;;; -TnM] I think Soi's proportions are much better.

7. 14 years ago.

8. Checked.

(In the anime, it was changed to stripes, but not like it really matters anyway).

9. 89-56-85 [*or in inches: 35-22-33 ½]

I suppose she couldn't be much more perfect than that? [*I dunno, I personally prefer less bust and more hip..artistically speaking, mind you. I'm not a lesbian : p - TNM]

10. 11 years old.

To be subjected to such Hell at such a young age. It would have been more merciful to just kill him.
