My RPG characters

As you may or maynot have noticed, i listed the role-playing games i enjoy playing on my main personal page. i also listed my favorite characters from said games. i was bored and figured i'd write a little on some of those characters. probably only for my own enjoyment, but what the hell? isn't that what the internet is all about anyway? ^_^

Favorite Characters

Wheel of Time
(Quick background: To ease our characters into the game, and initially avoid the matter of the Aes Sedai for characters playing channelers, male or female, our GM decided to create a secluded island where channelers both male and female are formally trained, etc.)

Freya Culadin (Draithum)
The Order of the Magi
(Woodsman 1 / Initiate 9 / Order of the Magi 3 - for the brief period we used d20)
Age: 16 (at game start), 20 (at game end)
Eye color: Brown
Hair color: Brown, long and wavy
Skin coloring: lightly tanned
Height: 5'4"
Family: Carpenter father, mother, 1 older brother (deceased, trollocs), 1 older sister, 1 younger sister, and 1 younger brother
Talents: Healer and Dreamer/Dreamwalker
Bond: Bond shared with her warder, and husband, Mordecai Culadin of Shienar
One Power items: The White Ring of the Clouds (a Spirit Ter'angreal and artifact of the Snowashon people [resident to our game])
Status: Retired; game ended

Born a commoner in a small village, Freya is (originally) naive and trusting. She tries very hard to hold to the etiquette taught through her Magi education (The Order of the Magi is the channeler organization on her island). She looks up to Nobles, but due to the equality being a Magi gives, rarely hesitates to ensure that fairness is upheld.

The group was called together as part of an expedition formed to find the Horn of Valere when a well-respected, and totally insane, male Magi Foretold of it's importance to the island. The original group consisted of three Magi (2 apprentices: Freya and Ayeka [another player character]), a wolf-brother, and a woodsman (hey, not everyone can be special!). [Freya and Ayeka were chosen due to neither having acquired the Ageless look yet]

Things like the the ability to Dream, the ring Angreal, the Bond with Mordecai and subsequent marriage, were brought about through gameplay and were not part of the beginning character. The beginning character actually started out as an Ars Magica conversion for the Wheel of Time. (which then converted to Earthdawn, d20, then finally Earthdawn again) Ars Magica featured spheres of magic similar to the Wheel of Time, and then different ways of using them including Creo (creating from nothing), Muto (manipulating existing magics), Perdo (destroying magics), Intellgo (understanding magics), and Rego (i don't remember this one). Well, along the way, the GM decided that female channelers shouldn't have Perdo, so the two female channeler player characters received Sphere deficiency flaws. To balance out the flaws, each was given a special merit, Freya was given the Dreamer merit, and Ayeka (the other Magi player character) received the Terangreal creation merit. So, Freya gained the before-then "hidden" ability to Dream ingame.

This game is probably the best gaming experience i've ever had. i had intentionally created Freya as a young, unsure girl precisely for the reason that i was a young, unsure girl playing in the game. it was a nice cover for mistakes. and now that i've grown into the character, so has the character grown. Freya actually is a driving force for the group, some plotlines, and such. i have to admit as well, that i am very attached to this game and the characters in it. especially Mordecai. Mordecai is played by the game master, Aaron (my fiance...although he wasn't my boyfriend when this game started). Awhile back there was a plotline where Mordecai died...i was stunned. i was in denial for a week or so until the next game session when it was revealed that he was, in fact, still alive. that was also when my character realized how much Mordecai meant to her and their courtship began in earnest. it was really cute. Aaron and i have some really fun emails going back and forth tracing Freya and Mordecai's (and our own) relationship growing into more. ^_^

Fading Suns

Rachel Dobbs
Guild: Scravers
Rank: Genin
Age: 22 (at game start), 25 currently
Eye color: Hazel
Hair color: Auburn, long, usually in a braid
Skin coloring: tanned
Height: 5'10"
Family: None, orphaned
Home planet: Holy Terra (England)
Status: playing

Rachel is an archeologist of sorts. She joined the Scravers as a means of getting to explore little-known places and the opportunities of finding new tech and old treasures. She wields a wicked shocker sure-snake whip and (thanks to the 8th level gun maneuver) dual medium autofeed pistols (or lazer pistols if slugs are scarce). She's also a bit of a Republican sympathizer, although she holds no affiliations with any underground groups. Rachel also hopes to make a name for herself within the Harrison family (aggressive archeologists) of the Scravers Guild while she's still young. She's a cross between Indiana Jones and Lara Croft...knowlegeable, adventurous, and beautiful to boot.

I love Rachel. She's the opposite of Freya in many ways. Where Freya was young and inexperienced, Rachel is confident and adventurous. She's willing to try anything once. She suffers from Wanderlust, which just fuels her desire to keep moving and discover more. Rachel has no memory of her parents. She was left at an Orthodox Orphanage on Holy Terra as a baby. Since communing with the Gargoyle at Nowhere, Rachel has taken up pursuit of her parents, or knowledge of them.

D&D v3.5 - Planescape

Kali'ska Orenda
Ranger 3/ Warlock 15/ Warrior of Darkness 2/Hellfire Warlock 1
Race: Shadar-Kai ("Shadow Fey")
Alignment: NE
Age: 25 human-equivalent years
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 96lb
Hometown: Curst (Outlands gate-town)
Family: Father (MIA), Mother (dead), older sister (missing), younger brother and sister (twins, missing)
Status: Playing

Kali'ska was created to be added to a long-running evil Planescape campaign that my husband ran. Until I joined, it had been the "boy's club" game. Kali'ska was the first character created with the new Warlock base class that our group had seen. I really like the class, and she turned out to be very useful in a fight.

While her race's preferred weapon was the spiked chain (which she did use), Kali'ska preferred to wield dual shortswords. Her Warrior of Darkness prestige class levels (Book of Vile Darkness) allowed her to enchant her weapon with a level 1 weapon enhancement. This ability was mostly used to try and bypass damage reduction, or just wrench up the damage (magebane is beautiful). The GM also introduced an alchemical substance which could bestow level 2 enhancements, but Kali'ska's Craft(alchemy) skill was not yet high enough to be able to recreate it. So, she hordes the remainder she has left until she can unlock its secrets.

As with every member of her race, Kali'ska practices the art of body decoration. She has multiple tattoos (including a large one on her back of dessicated fairy wings), multiple piercings, and scarifications. She also took up the magic item creation feat of Tattoo Magic. With this feat, she could create a tattoo on herself (or someone else) and embue the tattoo with a spell (up to 3rd level). Since the Warlock class lets a high-level Warlock imitate a spell for item creation purposes, she could use the feat. She also had a magic tattoo on her body of a spiked chain that she could whip out when needed and would meld back into her body when finished.

D&D v3.5 - Forgotten Realms/Planescape

Mae'xen'ae Ka'ya of House Kil'lyl - "Mae"
Heiropant 2/ Sword Dancer 10/ Cleric of Elistraee 3/ Fighter 4
Race: Half-Drow 'Crinti' of Dambrath
Alignment: CG
Age: 22
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 90lbs
Family: Mother, older sister (deceased), twin sister, younger brother
Domains: Moon and Portal
Status: playing

Mae is a young woman in early adulthood. She has waist-length silvery-white hair pulled back into a high ponytail, lavender eyes, and pale-ashy skin. She is relatively tall and slim with strong, dancer's legs. She usually wears fitted dresses with long flowing skirts (favorite colors: white, silver, and blue). Among the Crinti she was raised with, she had a...too human...look, but to humans (and other races), she couldn't possibly be mistaken for anything but someone of Drow blood. This realization is still very new to her, and the source of both amusement and irritation.

The Crinti of Dambrath differ from standard Drow (and Half-Drow) in that they live on the surface, worship Loviatar, and interbreed with Drow, other Half-Drow, Elves, and Humans. Mae's name translates to "Silver-Gem Dancer" which is fitting considering her Goddess Elistraee represents the Moon and Dancing among other things. (coincidence? nah.)

Mae was built to enter the Sword Dancer Prestige Class, a class for Elistraee worshippers. The class has freakin' hard pre-reqs! The combination of feats and class abilities require a character to have at least 13s in each stat except for Constitution! And every feat, except for one, must be towards this class for earliest entry, although, nine times out of ten, that one unused feat will be used to buy the exotic weapon proficiency(bastard sword) to use Elistraee's preferred weapon. (I know I did)

Eberron

Canaya
5th level Ranger of the Children of Winter
Race: Shifter
Alignment: LN
Shifter traits: Wildhunt, Shifter Defense, Shifter Healing Factor
Status: On hold

This character was made to test out the Eberron world for use in the series of modules WotC put out. The original version of this character was Lawful Evil and an even split of Ranger and Monk. But, for longterm playability (when we decided to take it more longterm), she got changed to LN and straight Ranger. I plan on taking her into the Reachrunner Prestige Class.

Other Characters

Cree, 3rd circle Beastmaster - Earthdawn
As far as my concept for this character goes, I was trying for an Aiel-type woman...strong, sure, dark of skin, but red hair, etc. And Dog is fashioned after the GM's own dog, and the lack of a good name is due purely to my own laziness (and extreme slowness) with thinking up good names. Also, for her name, I was going with the Beastmaster template...you know, Marc Singer in the Beastmaster movie, Dar. I wanted a single syllable name, thus, Cree.

Shawna Hawkins, Verbena - Mage: The Awakening 3rd ed
Shawna is a 14 year old high school freshman. She's into Tarot cards, crystals and N'Sync. Shawna's wardrobe consists of baby tees, slip tops, hip huggers, 'flair' jeans, platform shoes and so on, glitter and bright colors especially. She's also an aspiring actress and poet. Shawna has 'true faith' in the power of love, believing that love conquers all. (LOL, this character is already extremely dated!)

One-Shot Characters

Libitz, 7th gen Malkavian - Vampire: The Masquerade
Lei-Lei, Sorceror Ghost - Feng Shui
?, Atlantian Undead-Slayer - RIFTS
? - Luck Dragon - Armagedon
Terri Jones, bizarre superhero - Palladium Superheroes
Miss Sue Ellen, 13th gen Malkavian - Vampire: The Masquerade
Jonni Biehn, Mercenary - Fading Suns
Ryuuen Cho, Martial Artist - Feng Shui
'Diz' Flores, Ex-special forces - Feng Shui

Retired/Limbo Characters

Shadowrun

Sueño
Age: 28
Concept: Weapons Specialist
Nationality: Atzlan
Race: Human
Eye color: Brown
Hair color: Brown, to nape of neck
Skin coloring: Deep tan
Height: 5'8"
Specialties: Heavy weapons, assualt rifles, SMGs, and Demolitions
Status: Retired, game ended (she continues to run with a friend's team)

The game started in Seattle 2054. Sueño, originally Sueño Dulce or Sweet Dreams, was originally from Atzlan. She did some work down there, most likely with some merc groups and learned her trade. She left Atzlan when it just got too hot down there, and now resides in Seattle. She runs with a close-knit group called "the usual suspects" and provides a multitude of firearms skills at the group's disposal. Sueño's goal is to be able to pick up any firearm, anywhere, at anytime, and be able to use it. She has skills in the following firearms: pistols, SMGs, assault rifles, heavy weapons, launch weapons, gunnery, shotguns, and rifles. (She still needs to put in some time with the laser weapon mounted on their team van) As well as build and repair skills in pistols, SMGs, assault rifles, and gunnery. She also has skills in weapons related skills like throwing weapons, demolitions (with the demolitions aptitude edge), chemistry (for mixing explosives), physics with a specialty in ballistics, metallurgy, and gun-smithing.

This character was very much modeled after Vasquez from Aliens. She was such a badass. Sueno was similiar, except that she would occasionally bust out with some mission-related completely-out-of-character flirting (especially when our male-ran female elf mage didn't take the lead). Being as this was my first long-term character, I didn't do very well in the character development department. Sueno began two-dimensional and she ended two-dimensional. I never gave her more than a vague history in Atzlan, she was nearly asexual in regards to love and sex...there was a guy she sat around and cleaned guns with and went shooting with, but nothing was ever determined in-game. (GM and I determined that they have sex and don't bother hiding 'bunking-down' at the other's place, but have not verbalized anything in 'relationship' terms) I still like her though. ^_^

Vampire: The Masquerade

Deelia Vye
Apparent Age: 17
Actual Age: 117
Clan: Tremere
Generation: 8th
Nationality: German-American
Eye color: Icy blue
Hair color: Pitch black, long (though cut short nightly)
Skin coloring: Pale
Height: 5' 4.5"
Disciplines: Thaumaturgy 5, Dominate 3, Auspex 3, Obsfucate 2, Thaumaturgical Countermagic 4, Presence 1, Celerity 1
Paths: Path of Blood 5, Path of the Bitter North 4, Path of Technomancy 3, Path of the Focused Mind 3, Path of the Levinbolt 2
Retainers: Robert Anderson, Ghoul and former FBI computer crimes division; Calyx, a Gargoyle
Status: Retired; game ended

(Deelia was made for a long-running game of my husband's, Aaron, set in New York city during the aftermath of the Blood Curse and the oncoming Sabbat activities [June 1999+]. As the game was already well established, i was granted a number of freebie points to create a comparable character for the established player characters to interact with.)

Deelia is the grandchilde of the Tremere Primogen of New York, and the childe of a former Alastor. Through the less-than-normal circumstances of her sire's Embrace, he and Deelia (and anyother Childer he'd Sire) both exude a chill about them at all times. The ambient temperature drops significantly and frost and ice form near the character. This is the source of one of Deelia's Thaumaturgic Paths, the Path of the Bitter North. This Path's abilities center around cold, ice, and the spirits of the north<.p> Deelia is fascinated with the technology of the past century, unlike other Kindred she has choosen to embrace the changes, rather than shun them. She possesses an impressive array of computer and hacking skills as well as the Thaumaturgical Path of Technomancy which harnesses the power of technology at the Magi's whim. Her ghoul, Robert Anderson, also possesses impressive computer and hacking skills, teaching Deelia a portion of what she knows. He also has vast security skills and ties with the Police (FBI) and knowledge of the Mafia. Conflicting with Deelia's New World thinking, she also possesses a Gargoyle among her retainers. Made in the old ways, Calyx, is Deelia's lab assistant and ever-present shadow in times of conflict.

Deelia herself is somewhat cold (pardon the pun) when it comes to humans. She holds a detatched opinion of them (humanity 6) and their activities, allowing her to feed upon them without the intense guilt more humane Kindred experience. This most likely stems from Deelia's somewhat early Embrace. Deelia was Embraced at 17 years of age, being saved from a mad mob by her Sire. Her youth and raging resentment for the mob were prominent in her pulling away from human society upon becoming Embraced.

Shadowrun

Siouxie
Real name: Anna Brown-Feather
Concept: Ex-bodyguard
Nationality: Sioux AmerIndian
Race: Human
Age: 28
Eye color: Dark brown
Hair color: Pitch black, long and very straight (braid[s] in combat)
Height: 5'6"
Skin coloring: tanned
Family: Shaman father, mother, older brother, younger sister (all in NAN)
Status: 1st Story arc over, game paused

Siouxie started her career as a bodyguard for MegaMedia corp, the kind of bodyguard that doesn't look like one. She was good at her job and was very dedicated to her client’s well-being an safety. After a couple of years, Siouxie was assigned to guard a new up-and-coming starlett. Siouxie liked her. She was funny, attractive, and not at all arrogant like most of the stars Siouxie had been guarding up till then. So, when the girl was brutally killed in Siouxie’'s presence, due (in part) to her negligence, Siouxie quit the bodyguarding business. She had lost her confidence in herself and her abilities. Siouxie’s re-emergence into the shadows is part of her rehabilitation efforts to gain her confidence back...and to keep her living in the manner she was accustomed.

As a bodyguard, Siouxie had undergone several cyberwear implantations to make her better suited to the job including cybereyes (flare compensators, low-light, and electronic magnification 1), headware memory, a data jack, a data lock, wired reflexes 1, aluminum bonelacing, and most importantly, a multi-slot chipjack. i wanted to make her as versitile as possible. (i must admit that this character was built around this piece of cyberwear. after seeing the Matrix and Trinity's ultra-quick 'slot' of the helicopter piloting skill, i just knew i had to make a shadowrun character with a chipjack)

Mage: The Ascension

Ryoko Cho
Tradition: Akashic Brotherhood
Age: 18?
Nationality: Japanese-American
Eye color: Dark brown
Hair color: Black
Skin coloring: pale
Height: 5'6"
Spheres: Mind, Life, Correspondance(?), Prime...
Status: Retired(?) (Ryoko & her cabal got caught in a horizon realm when they all collapsed)

Ryoko was part of a New York Cabal. She was a competent student of Do, a fighting style (and way of life, of course). Ryoko has a sphere deficiency in Entropy and thus cannot abide chaos and unorderliness. She is a fairly serious young woman, about what she is, what that entails, and the responsibilities that come with it. I'm afraid i don't have much on her as the game was relatively short (and partly to my laziness). But, on the plus side, with our game being disbanded our characters got moved to NPC (non-player character) status and thus, became much, much cooler.

Werewolf: The Apocolypse

Jennifer "Jenn" DeSanti
Homid Philodox Black Furies Rank 2
Nationality: Italian/Greek American
Age: 19
Eye color: Hazel blue
Hair color: Shoulder-length, wavy dark brown
Skin coloring: tanned
Height: 5'6"
Family: Unknowing mother, Garou father, knowing aunt
Status: Limbo - may not return

Jenn is a native New Yorker. She grew up enjoying the outdoors, starting with Girl Scouts and moving to more "extreme" sports as a teenager. She partied too hard her first year in college, and underwent her "first change" at the hands of a drunk friend under the influence of drugs. Jenn wants to become a veterinarian, and is working on her undergraduate studies until she can apply for Cornell's veterinary program.

Jenn isn't the stereotypical "man-hating" Black Fury. She has issues she believes whole-heartedly in defending, regardless of the sex perpetrating the crime. As a philodox, she tries to think things through and weigh the options before acting. Not having the ambition to "have the spotlight," Jenn will probably move into an "advisor" or "power behind the throne" kind of position later in life.

I was always teased that i would make a Black Fury were i ever to play Werewolf. In the end, I did. I did look at the other tribes though...the Uktena are cool, as are the Silent Striders, but I ended up with the Black Furies anyway. *smile* My sometimes-latent feminine pride showing itself through my gaming, yet again. I rarely make girly-girl characters, though there are a few (Shawna, Asha, etc.), my characters tend to be strong women...either at the game's beginning or through play. (ie. Freya was not too strong upon beginning the game, but grew into her power and leadership role through game play)

Star Wars D20

Risa "Asha" Nyx
Noble 2 / Scoundrel 2
Species: Twi'lek
Homeplanet: Ryloth
Age: 19
Skin color: teal
Eye color: teal
Height: 1.6 meters (5'3")
Weight: 43.5 kg (96 lbs)
Family: Father and Mother - MIA
Status: Game over

Risa began to lowly status on Ryloth. She never knew her mother, and her father was a gambler and drunk. Risa ended up as a slave for many years, until she struck out on her own and became a dancer. She eventually worked in the highest-class club on Ryloth as a featured performer, singing and dancing. Everything was finally going her way, until her club owner asked her to help out a struggling new club on Naboo...just days before the Trade Federation blockade and ensuing battle. Risa, now known by her stagename of Asha, was herded into one of the civilian camps to wait out the blockade. There she met some people who would alter the course of her life forever.

Asha is, at first glance, the stereotypical Twilek dancing girl. She is *very* pretty (Charisma 20), agile (Dexterity 17), and still fairly young. Her childhood was spent as a slave and then a street urchin, so she's not unknowing of the streets and how dirty life can be. But, she's not a blaster-slinger either. She has a blaster, but rarely pulls it during a confrontation...always keeping it in a backpack or some such place. She has asperations of becoming a famous singer/dancer, although how that would happen as an adventurer, I'm not sure.

Fading Suns

D'Lyn
Race: Ur'Obun
Position: Researcher/Advisor
Age: 28(?)
Eye color: ?
Hair color: ?
Skin coloring: Coppery
Height: ?
Psychic abilities: Bonding (3), Turning (3), Omens (4)...?
Status: Retired, game ended

D'Lyn started out as a researcher in the history of her people, until she began to research some of their prophecies. The prophecies, the 13th in particular, foretold of a group of people who would talk with gods, and relight the suns, etc. Hearing news of some people who had "seen" a god (i forget his name), she was sent out to investigate if they were the Ones. so, she became attached to the traveling group and became advisor to one of them, Count Daerik Kassad of House Decados.

Dungeons & Dragons: 3rd edition

Kari Forestborn
5th level fighter/4rd level sorceror
Race: Half-Drow
Alignment: Chaotic good
God: Eilistraee
Age: 22
Eye color: Purple
Hair color: White, shoulder-length
Skin coloring: Dusky dark
Height: 5'0"
Family: human mother (dead), Drow father (unknown)
Status: Game stopped

Kari is a fun character. She slings spells and wields a longsword effectively. She is very pretty, fairly intelligent, but lacks common sense (Wisdom 10). Kari was raised in a predominately human village, living with her mother, and never knowing her father. (Her mother was raped by a Drow, but being a follower of the goddess Selune, she accepted the child as her own and raised her alone.) Kari knows little of the Drow, except legends, myths, and rumors. Her sorceror mentor taught her about the Drow gods, and Kari took to Eilistraee's goals of furthering 'good' Drow and helping to change others opinions of them.

I have plans to move this character into the Spellsword prestige class, making it possible for her to cast in armor and channel spells through her sword. Kari was a lot of fun to play. The (relatively) low Wisdom made it fun to role-play out silly or impulsive behavior...like we got attacked while on a boat, Kari stands up to fight! The group found the bedroom of an dark Dwarf who liked living well...Kari stole on of the silk pillows and carried it around with her from then on. Or, Kari trying to remove her sword from sticking onto a sticky shield by placing her foot onto the shield and pulling *hard*. ^_^

Lydia Jenkins/Lydia Manfrensenjinson, Sluagh Wilder - Changeling: The Dreaming
Lydia was a teenager living in Dallas who worked at a 'retro' store. lydia loved 'retro' stuff...mostly circa 1980's stuff. she rode a vespa scooter, carried a huge tote-bag 'cell' phone, wore leg-warmers, dressed like madonna's 'like a virgin' persona, and so on. she also had chimerical pet named Mr. Squeak. he was a ferret.

Status for all: Retired (or dead)
Tomorrow Johnson, Mad Scientist - Deadlands
Kaiya, 3rd level Fighter (Archer bent) - Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition
Terese LeBlanc, 10th gen Cappadocian - Vampire: The Dark Ages
Reena, Gypsy-girl just Awakened Mage - Mage: The Sorceror's Crusade
