Bakurestu Hunter is a show which aired in 1995 in Japan. (I think) It was
followed up by a three episode OVA series which took three stories out of
the manga. There were a total of thirteen volumes of the manga.
In the Spooner Continent, there are some evil sorcerers (also some good
sorcerers) who are tyranizing the citizens. To fight against these people,
Big Mama sends out the Sorcerer Hunters. The main group of sorcerer hunters
the story focuses upon is a group of five, Carrot Glasse, Marron Glasse,
Chocolate Misu, Tira Misu, and Gato Mocha. Big Mama believes in trying
to fix the world as it is. However, there is another who believes
differently. His name is Zaha Torte. Find out what mysteries surround him
and his past and his relationship with Big Mama and the Sorcerer Hunters.
The OVAs take place pretty much anywhere in the TV series. They don't really
have any kind of "plot" element which would hurt you if you watch them
before seeing the end of the TV series. However, episode 2 of the OVA series
has a character names Milphey, which you won't meet in the TV series until
maybe episode 17. (I forget which ep he appears in)
Characters:
Carrot Glasse
Carrot basically tries his hardest to go after all the pretty girls
and women he can find. That is what he spends most of his time doing
throughout most of the episodes. It's strange that he does this,
considering that Chocolate and Tira would gladly spend the night
with him. However, maybe that is just the very reason he denies them.
He may not want what comes easily.
Carrot has a sword, but you hardly ever see him use it. His main
weapon and reason he is a sorcerer hunter is that he is able to
absorb magic and then transform into zoantropy. Other than that,
he is pretty useless...
He also has another side of him... A very dark side, in fact. There
is more the him changing into zoantropy than meets the eye... And
what exactly is his relationship with Zaha Torte? Well...trying to avoid
too many spoilers here, I'll leave the rest of that up in the air.
Marron Glasse
Chocolate Misu
Chocolate is deeply in love with Carrot. They had grown up together, which
I suppose is one of the reasons she loves him. She recognizes Carrot's
nice side.
Tira Misu
Tira is also in love with Carrot, however she is more subtle about her
affections. She is a cute, little, innocent looking woman... But make
her angry and she'll show you her other side.
Gato Mocha
Gato is all muscles. He is relatively new to the other 4 sorcerer
hunters. There are some subtle hints that he has a thing for Marron.
Watch out for them.
Dota
Dota is well...Dota. (short for Daughter - sounds cuter than Daughter)
She pretty much just acts as an inbetween for Big Mama and the Sorcerer
Hunters. Also, she is there for Big Mama to have someone to talk to so
Big Mama can reveal what is happening to the rest of us :) Watch out
for her when she talks, though...she tends to be a tad bit faster than
normal.
Big Mama
Big Mama is the leader of the "good" team. We say good here since our
main characters work for her, though who is to say that what she is
doing is right. She assigns tasks to the Sorcerer Hunters and also
to her elite troup of Haz Knights.
Zaha Torte
Zaha Torte is the leader of the "bad" team. Of course, I think he
is pretty much a one-man team :) He and Big Mama differ on a few
different ideas. They used to be together, but Zaha quit and left
Big Mama because of their different ideals. He seems to show
an interest in the Sorcerer Hunters. Why is that?
Episode info: (some spoilers, but hopefully not too many)

This is a lovely story about a boy, a girl, a woman, and and old lady.

the girl is actually grateful of his attention. What's going on here?
TV 6: "Heresy of Love is Crystal"
The Sorcerer Hunters are given the task of stopping whoever is turning
the young girls into crystals with Kinju magic. However, there appears
to be a twist to this story, as the sorcerer doesn't appear to be a
sorcerer at all, but just an overprotective brother.
What is this all about?
TV 7: "Love, as it Drifts"
Have you ever heard of the magic river of holy light? There's a legend
about this river and the ceremony of Spirit Rock Float. It says that
upstream, you set a rock full of spirit adrift. As it flows downward,

idea. He wants to kill the dragon and end their fear once and for all.
But wait! Didn't Big Mama say there was no way to kill it?! What is
going on here?
TV 13: "In Between Dreams and Reality"
I'm a Carrot, you're a Carrot, everyone's a Carrot Carrot! Sorry about
my singing there, but this episode is weird enough as it is. The Sorcerer
Hunters get trapped inside this mystical fairy book and well...anything
that can happen apparently does. It will make your dreams come true.
TV 14: "God's a Big Fool"
The Sorcerer Hunters are called upon to defeat a beast threatening a
town, but when they get there, they are told to cancel their request

caring about her feelings. Has God forsaken her?
TV 15: "The First Reunion"
Zaha Torte enters the scene in a big way. He is off amassing power
in preperation for...well...I can't tell you for what. But Big Mama
is out to try to stop him this episode, only someone gets in her way
and confuses matters. Find out what Zaha Torte is up to. See how
the Sorcerer Hunters fit into this all.
TV 16: "The Great Hospital of Love"
If the last episode is called a plot episode, this episode is called a
plot-LESS episode. This episode has no bearing on anything whatsoever.
So what is in it? Well, there is a lot of humor and some bouncing here
and there.
TV 17: "Big Mama Once Again"
The big fortress has been activated once again and the Sorcerer Hunters
have been called upon to try to stop it. However, is it too powerful
for them to handle? What happens when Carrot tries to change formes

Zaha Torte and the Haz Knights face off with each other. All the
while, Carrot, Chocolate, and Tira are all sleeping together and
exploring...their feelings together...yeah, that's it! What is
wrong with this picure?
TV 22: "Sorcerer Hunter Spirits"
On the way to meet with Big Mama at the Stella Church, Carrot is torn
with his feelings as be begins to wonder why he is even
hunting sorcerers. Is it because it is benefitting the common folk or
is it because Big Mama says so or what? Or is he just making this up
so that he can trick the rest of the gang into letting him stay in a town
with a lot of beautiful women :) I think you know the right answer...
But then again...
TV 23: "The Foible of Kindness"
Carrot and gang have made it back to the Stella church. What does
Big Mama have in mind that she needed to see them personally, yet
she didn't just transport them there like she usually does. She
needed that time to think over her decision...a very hard one at
that. What is happening? Zaha saves Carrot's life?!?
TV 24: "Overture of Destruction"
The Sorcerer Hunters know that they have to fight Zaha Torte. They
also know they have little or no chance of winning, yet they go to meet

They continue their battle with Zaha. What are the big secrets which
are revealed? Why is Zaha coming after Carrot? What is this "Destroyer"
everyone is talking about?
TV 26: "A Forgotten Piece from the Future"
I don't want to spoil everything by saying what will happen in this
last episode. Let's just say that they have a nearly full-length version of
the ending song during the middle of the episode :) If that isn's reason
enough to watch it, I don't know what is :)
OVA 1: "A Nighttime Visit, a Nighttime Visit, It Extends Even to the Birds and the Bees"
The whole gang has decided to take a break and rest at a nice hot springs.
So you know what that means... It is the traditional "hot springs" episode
with more fan service than you know what to do with. However, this episode
is also extremely funny. Carrot, Potei, and Chocolate are all trying to
have a nighttime visit witht he one they love. Chocolate loves Carrot, of
course. Carrot loves anyone besides Chocolate and Tira, of course. And
Potei...well...he doesn't care. (or does he?)
Find out who they end up with and Dota's big secret which shocks Carrot.
OVA 2: "The Legendary Book of Evil and Destruction"
Since the last episode was totally silly, I guess they decided to try to
make one which was serious this time. But wait, this is Bakuretsu Hunter.
You can't make a serious episode! Well, they did. With one exception.
Milphey is called upon to help out the Sorcerer Hunters this time
because he knows a lot about their target. However, Milphey just can't
seem to...well...you'll find out. Anyways, they're target is to save
the people of Famil from being enslaved as zombies and used to rule
the world.
OVA 3: "Beneath the Memorial Tree"
Once upon a time, there was a really big tree which only blooms once
every ten or so years. It was said that if you confess your love under
it while it is in bloom, you will be happily married for the rest of
your life. As you suspected, it is now in bloom and the Sorcerer Hunters,
specifically Carrot, Chocolate, and Tira are here to take advantage of
it. However, Carrot is not planning what Chocolate and Tira are...
Or is he?
